Nicola Philippaerts top horse H&M Chilli Willi (Casall x Lord) has passed away due to a tragical accident. The Belgian showjumper and his 13 year old stallion were showing at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington when he stumbled and broke his left forleg after the last jump. As the fracture turned out very complicated, the family had to make the tough decision to put the stallion down. Chilli Willi was Nicolas sports partner since 2015 and brought him great successes in several Grand Prix competitions. Their highlights included winning the Longines Global Champions Tour of Chantilly (France) in 2018 and placing third in the same competition in 2019. Together, Nicola and Chilli Willi represented Belgium at Nations Cups as well as at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon. They were just getting ready for the season, aiming for the Olympic Games in Tokyo later this year, when the tragic happened. Our thoughts are with the Philippaerts-family and everyone close to Chilli Willi. Let’s remember a few of his special moments through this playlist.
