Matcha is a pretty athletic filly bred for the upper levels. She is a good mover with a big elastic
canter and expressive trot. She has natural instincts for the fences and is a modern jumping
type, light on her feet, careful and quick in the air. She looks to have all the scope to be aimed
for the young jumper classes. She is expected to mature 16.1-16.2. She is personable and well
handled and has been raised in a herd environment.
Matcha’s sire Lestat is a proven competitor to 1.50m with a wonderful temperament. This son of
Lordanos shows incredible character and rideability as well as long term soundness, being
campaigned at U25 level well into his teens.
Her mother, Feronia D is a top KWPN mare who is a confirmed producer of upper level horses.
Her eldest daughter Zavalli D and her next daughter Mae Moberley have both been competitive
in the 7 year olds 1.35m. She not only jumped to 1.20m herself after her first foal, she is a ster
mare with Prok status who scored 80 points for her freejumping at her mare test. She is a from
a top mare family. Her brother Hurricane VDL is a 1.60m horse and sister Kalimero D was
national mare champion with her own sport record to 1.40m. This is the same motherline that
produced licenced stallion Jardonnay VDL and 1.60m horse Dubai. Feronia is sired by Baltic VDL. Baltic is proving to be a very important producer of upper level 5* horses. Leonnie Jei (Martin Fuchs), Faltic (Ben Maher), Ilex (McLlain Ward) are all sons of Baltic. Baltic mares are very rare in North America, this filly presents an opportunity not only for sport but for future breeding as well.
