What is the HKM Bundeschampionat?
The HKM Bundeschampionat, also known as BuCha, is a horse show and an important date in the German competition calendar. Here, riders present their young horses and ponies in the disciplines of dressage, show jumping, and eventing. Horses and ponies aged three to seven years, who have previously proven themselves through qualifications at regional and national levels, compete against each other. Their sporting performance, training, riding characteristics, character, and future potential are evaluated. The event plays a central role in discovering future top horses for breeding and international equestrian sports.
Which horses are eligible for the HKM Bundeschampionat 2024? How do you qualify for the HKM Bundeschampionat?
To participate in the HKM Bundeschampionat 2024, horses and ponies must achieve certain performances in the qualification tests. Horses can compete as German riding horses or ponies, or with special permission, foreign stallions. Foreign riders can participate with guest licenses. It is allowed for a qualified horse to compete with a different rider at the Bundeschampionat, as the horse qualifies for the HKM Bundeschampionat and not the rider. The horses must score at least an 8.0 or better in the respective qualification test to be eligible to start at the Bundeschampionat.
HKM Bundeschampionat 2024: Schedule, Program, and Timetable
In the first days of the HKM Bundeschampionat, the initial and qualification tests for 5-7-year-old show jumping, dressage, and eventing horses, as well as the first tests for 3-4-year-old riding horses and ponies, take place. This is followed by the second qualification tests, where the young horses and ponies have another chance to qualify for the finals on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday and Sunday, the best horses in the respective age categories and disciplines compete against each other for the title of HKM Bundeschampion 2024.
