Inside the Judge’s Eye: Eventing Dressage
Ever wondered how judges score eventing dressage? In this educational video, Sandy explains the 4*-D dressage test, showing exactly what judges look for when awarding marks. She breaks down key elements of a successful test, including quality of halt, straightness, engagement, suppleness, balance in trot work, rider position, and precision in figures like circles and serpentines. She also explains collective marks and overall impression, showing how they influence the final score and why they matter. With clear examples of “good” moments and learning points, she makes the judging process transparent and easy to understand for riders, fans, and anyone curious about eventing dressage.
