As Chronicle of the Horse published, Anna Buffini has moved quickly through the ranks of international dressage, representing the United States on multiple senior Nations Cup teams and World Cup championships, and even being considered for the 2024 U.S. Olympic team.

As riders, we spend so much time focusing on what our horses are doing that it’s easy to forget about our own bodies. But the truth is, your position has a huge influence on your horse’s way of going. The more aware you are of how you’re sitting, balancing, and using your body, the clearer your communication will be.

One of the most anticipated crowd-pleasers at Dressage at Devon returned Saturday night: the third annual Dance-Off in the Dixon Oval. Riders Adriane Alvord, Jim Koford, Shannon Stevens, and Silva Martin swapped their traditional attire for outrageous costumes and unscripted freestyles, riding to contemporary music they hadn’t heard before.

The Saturday evening session opened with pageantry, as a color guard and the Villanova University choir set the stage with a stirring rendition of the National Anthem. From there, the spotlight shifted to the FEI CDI-W Grand Prix Freestyle presented by Kingsview Partners, where 17 horse-and-rider pairs brought artistry and precision to the Dixon Oval.

The FEI CDI3* Grand Prix Special, presented by Iron Spring Farm, brought 10 talented combinations to the Dixon Oval late in the afternoon. When the final scores came in, it was Anna Marek who rose to the top with Fayvel, a 15-year-old KWPN gelding owned by Cynthia Davilia. The pair delivered a steady, confident test that earned them 68.851% and the win.

British dressage rider Charlotte Dujardin made her international comeback at the CDI3* in Le Mans at the French Boulerie Jump Pôle Européen du Cheval. With her mare Alive and Kicking (All At Once x Furst Piccolo), she took two convincing victories in both the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special. In the Grand Prix, Dujardin scored 74.

Masterclass DetailsDressage at Devon, known as one of the premier dressage competitions in North America, is set to hold a notable masterclass featuring Olympic champion Ingrid Klimke. This special event, organized by Capital Square, coincides with the 50th anniversary of the renowned horse show in Devon. The masterclass is scheduled for one night only: Thursday, September 25th, at 6 p.m.

Historic Win for BelgiumBelgium's Justin Verboomen, 37, emerged victorious in the 5* Grand Prix Special at the 2025 CDIO Aachen held on July 5, 2025. In a press conference following his win, Verboomen expressed his disbelief and excitement, emphasizing the bond he shares with his horse, Zonik Plus, a nine-year-old Hanoverian stallion bred in Portugal.

US Equestrian has announced the combinations that will represent the United States at the 2025 World Championship for Young Dressage Horses, scheduled for August 5-10, 2025, in Verden, Germany.The selected pairs will be accompanied by Christine Traurig, the Dressage Technical Advisor and Chef d’Equipe for the U.S.
