Irish riders swept the leaderboard on Sunday at the Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows, capping off Week 1 with a thrilling finish in the $135,000 Grand Prix. Leading the charge was Jordan Coyle, who delivered a scorching double-clear round aboard Keep Me With You N.C. to clinch the win in an unbeatable time of 34.67 seconds.
The CSI3* event featured 34 elite international competitors from seven nations, all navigating a challenging 16-effort 1.55m course set by renowned Irish designer Alan Wade. Only 11 made it to the jump-off, with six finishing double clear. Adrienne Sternlicht laid down an early target of 38.74 seconds with Faquitol-S, but Coyle obliterated that time with his daring ride on the 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare.
Coyle wasn’t the only Irishman making headlines. Darragh Kenny turned in two swift double-clear performances to finish second with Amsterdam 27 (36.33) and third with Zero K (36.80). Not far behind, Philip McGuane claimed fourth aboard Orphea HQ (37.28), making it a clean Irish sweep of the top four positions.
Despite being bumped from the top spot, Sternlicht still rounded out the top five with a solid performance on her longtime partner Faquitol-S.
The Old Salem Farm Spring Horse Shows continue through May 18, with Week 2 designated as a CSI4*. Highlights still to come include the $225,000 Empire State Grand Prix, promising more action from top international talent. With sweeping views, family activities, and elite sport, Old Salem Farm once again proves it’s one of the top destinations on the U.S. show jumping calendar.
