The 2025 Great Charity Challenge, sponsored by Fidelity Investments, has achieved a remarkable total of over $24 million in donations, benefiting more than 80 non-profits and 12 schools in Palm Beach County.
Taking place on February 1st, 2025, at Wellington International in Wellington, FL, the event brought together over 120 donors, distributing more than $2 million in one evening with the aim of impacting 187,307 lives. This year’s theme, Global Music, celebrated the connection between riders and their horses, promoting cultural unity and community engagement. The lasting support from donors and sponsors reflects a shared commitment to positive change, a sentiment echoed by the Wellington International team. The challenge guarantees that 100% of all donations go directly to the chosen charities, ensuring effective contributions to community programs.
In the near future, an additional $150,000 in grants will be allocated to support underfunded areas, focusing on hunger and enhancing access to the arts in public schools. The Great Charity Challenge has become a prominent feature of the Winter Equestrian Festival, fostering cooperation among equestrians and locals for a shared purpose. Since its inception, the initiative has provided over $24 million to 370 nonprofits in Palm Beach County. "The success of the GCC highlights our combined effort to achieve meaningful change, continuing to fund education, healthcare, and homelessness prevention initiatives," stated GCC Executive Director Anne Caroline Valtin.
Those interested in understanding the impact of the funding across various organizations are encouraged to visit the designated website. The GCC also emphasizes the need for sustainable nonprofit operations by offering unrestricted funding, which allows flexibility in resource allocation. This model ensures that at least 75% of the funds benefit the local community, supporting long-term impact and organizational stability. Each nonprofit undergoes an evaluation process for their fund use plan before receiving financial support. To uphold transparency, quarterly reports provide insights into the progress and outcomes of the supported initiatives.
