FEI Sports Forum to focus on jumping rule overhaul
Key changes to FEI Jumping Rules under discussion in Lausanne

The 2025 FEI Sports Forum will take place on March 31 and April 1 in Lausanne, with Monday’s session dedicated to a full review of the FEI Jumping Rules. Stephan Ellenbruch (Chair, FEI Jumping Committee) and Todd Hinde (FEI Jumping Director) will present key proposed changes, supported by an expert panel including IJRC President Francois Mathy Jr, FEI officials Cesar Hirsch and Irene Verheul, and Swedish Chef d'Équipe Henrik Ankarcrona. Jessica Kürten will moderate the session.
Topics under discussion include:
- Article 241.3 on eliminations and its implications
- Rest periods for horses, athletes, and grooms
- Special competitions and possible rule removals
- Regulations for young horses, including heights, times, and formats
- Introduction of MERs for qualification at certain levels
This marks the first phase of the FEI Jumping Rules revision. A final draft will be submitted for vote at the 2025 General Assembly. The session will be streamed live via the FEI’s official platform.
