Falko de Hus passes away at 10
Fatal injury during warm-up in Auvers

The 10-year-old stallion Falko de Hus (Baloubet du Rouet x Argentinus) has died following a tragic accident at the Grand National in Auvers. Ridden by François-Xavier Boudant and approved by Selle Français, the stallion suffered a severe leg fracture during warm-up, leading to euthanasia as the only humane option.
Falko de Hus, owned by the France Élevage Group (GFE), was rushed to the Bayeux clinic, but scans confirmed that the damage was beyond repair—even for a retired life. GFE stated, “After consulting France’s top surgeons, we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go on Sunday, March 23 at 17:00.”
Crowned champion of the 7-year-olds at the 2022 French Championships in Fontainebleau, Falko continued to shine internationally. Just two weeks ago, he and Boudant won the Grand National opener in Marnes-la-Coquette.
"Tonight, we returned home without Falko. He was wild in the ring, gentle in the stables. A dream has shattered today,” Boudant wrote on Instagram.
