FEI Launches Online Safeguarding Training Course for Equestrian Sport

The Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI), in collaboration with #WeRideTogether, has launched an online safeguarding training course for everyone involved in equestrian sport.

This course provides essential knowledge about protecting participants from harassment and abuse, emphasizing that safeguarding is a shared responsibility. The training, available for free on FEI Campus, caters to a broad audience including athletes, coaches, grooms, parents, officials, administrators, and volunteers across all levels of sport. Currently, the course is offered in English, with plans for translation into other languages over the next year.

The course requires around 90 minutes to complete and features short videos, graphics, and quizzes at the end of each section. Participants can pause and resume the training at their convenience. Specific sections are tailored for athletes, parents, coaches, and grooms, although all individuals are encouraged to complete the entire course. Upon finishing the course, participants will receive a certificate of completion and enhanced understanding of safeguarding in equestrian settings. The FEI is dedicated to fostering respect and safety in equestrian sport, ensuring a supportive environment for all. The introduction of the FEI Policy on Safeguarding Participants against Harassment and Abuse in 2019 marked a commitment to awareness initiatives, reinforced by this new training course.

National Federations are reminded to establish their own safeguarding policies and are encouraged to utilize the developed NF Safeguarding Policy template. Additionally, the FEI encourages National Federations to promote this new safeguarding course within their communities. Any inquiries or feedback regarding the course can be directed to the provided email. The FEI, founded over a century ago, governs multiple equestrian disciplines and currently has 136 member National Federations.
