HITS Hudson Valley Showcases Elite Hunter Talent
The Ring at HITS Hudson Valley buzzed with hunter action as the summer series in Saugerties, New York, continued to deliver top-tier sport. While international show jumping drew attention in the Douglas Elliman Grand Prix Stadium, the $5,000 ClipMyHorse.TV Hunter Classic Qualifier captured the spotlight nearby, with Evan Coluccio and Simba de Vinck rising to the top.
Twelve elite combinations competed in the classic-format class, each aiming for a spot in the $200,000 ClipMyHorse.TV Hunter Classic Final in September. Coluccio’s seamless ride aboard the seven-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding stood out, earning him the top prize with polish and precision over Danny Foster’s flowing course. Judges William Sparks and John Colon praised the pair’s textbook hunter style.
Qualifiers Set for September’s Finale
Close behind, Laena Romond of Brookefield, CT, guided Fellow Z, a seven-year-old Zangersheide gelding by For Pleasure, to second place. Rounding out the top three, David Wilbur (Ocala, FL) rode last year’s Final champion Four Aces, a 10-year-old Holsteiner gelding, into third—securing another opportunity at the September finale.
