In an official statement, the FEI emphasizes the critical role that media and scientific research play in advancing equestrian sport and improving equine welfare. While welcoming diverse perspectives—including critical voices—the federation warns against the damaging effects of misinformation caused by omissions, misrepresentations, or lack of context.
The FEI expresses concern over recent unverified allegations and media scrutiny targeting dressage riders and FEI officials. Such narratives, the organization says, place undue pressure on professionals devoted to the care of their horses and the integrity of the sport.
Acknowledging the importance of constructive criticism, the FEI reiterates that sustainable change must come from within the sport, driven by shared commitment to horse welfare and excellence. The statement calls for collaboration over condemnation and urges the equestrian community to foster a respectful atmosphere for growth and progress.
Finally, the FEI appeals to the media to uphold integrity, accuracy, and fairness in reporting, reaffirming the press’s vital responsibility in shaping the future of equestrian sport.
