European eventing champion Laura Collett suffers collarbone fracture

Laura Collett (GBR), the current individual European eventing champion, has suffered an injury that has forced her to take an unexpected break. The rider reported on her social media channels that she broke her collarbone last week, but has already undergone successful surgery. According to her own statements, she is now on the road to recovery and is looking positively to the future.

Shorter forced break due to injury

The injury represents a less serious challenge for Collett compared to previous accidents. In 2013, the British rider suffered serious internal injuries in a fall and had to be resuscitated several times. A tracheotomy saved her life at the time, and she only survived the accident thanks to her airbag vest. This dramatic experience over the past decade makes Collett's current injury all the less serious, which she emphasized in her public statements.

Looking ahead: focus on the World Championships in Aachen

Despite the current forced break, Collett remains optimistic and is looking ahead to the coming season. Her focus is already on the 2026 World Championships in Aachen, for which she and her horse London want to continue training. According to Collett, she is confident that she will soon be back in the saddle and fully fit to pursue her goals in the new season.
